April is going to be good – we can feel it in our collective bones. The time is right to really get out there and listen to some terrible noise. This guide aims to give you a flavour of what’s happening up and down the country. We can’t mention every gig – we’re not omnipresent but if you think we’ve forgotten something important, please let us know! For this guide we’ll be focussing on the smaller underground shows but we may mention some of the bigger tours when the mood takes us!
February was an amazing month for gigs. We hope your eardrums, wallets and livers are ready to face whatever March has in store for you. Just remember, you can rest when you’re dead. Now is for noise and chaos.
Here we highlight some of the shows people are putting on around the UK in March. We focus on the smaller underground shows but we have thrown in a cheeky mention or two of some bigger tours that you simply shouldn’t miss.
If we’ve missed anything you feel people need to be aware of please shout loudly about this via the social media platform of your choice – we love it when people point out our shortcomings!
It's always a daunting experience when interviewing bands and trying to get them to open up to you. Even more so here when we talk to one of the sickest, vilest bands in existence. With the release of their debut album 'The Blood of Endangered Species' just one week away, we caught up with Gorgonchrist to find out more about their views, the making of the album and why they are sure that they are dying. There are two of them and they go under the names Kill Babies and Crushwalker. It was, needless to say, an interesting experience.
Based in Nottingham, Atmosfest is an annual one day festival dedicated to Atmospheric Black Metal. Previous years' events have included the likes of Fen, Saor and A Forest of Stars, while the 2019 event has already confirmed UK black metal heavyweights Winterfylleth as the headline band. The promoter behind this exciting and attractive little festival is Nick Wolven (Wolvencrown) and he has found that running the festival has led to him promoting more gigs under the Atmosfest banner. We caught up with him to find out his take on the UK underground scene and how he enjoyed being a promoter.
Here at Clobber Records we’re addicted to live music.
It’s the feeling you get in that moment… you know the one. When all of the sweaty bodies, smelly toilets and sticky floors just melt away and you’re captured. Caught within the music. It envelops you entirely – all of life’s worries and pain replaced with overwhelmingly loud noise. You emerge afterwards - tired, aching, happy. Hopefully you can hold on to the feeling long after the ringing in your ears subsides – at the very least until the next opportunity presents itself be submerged within it once again.
